Christopher Peter Meloni (born Christopher Peter Meloni) is an American actor who is best known as a star of the popular TV show 'Law and Order Special Victims Unit. While in college, Christopher Meloni has been fascinated by the world of acting. He pursued a degree in acting at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has appeared in both TV and films, however it was his small-screen characters which gained him fame as well as an extensive following. This is not surprising since his characters have been able to capture people's attention with his characters who are on either one side of the legal system. He was the voice of a serial murderer in his debut television show and then went on to portray the character as an NYPD detective. Because of his appearances on smaller screens, he has received numerous nominations for the prestigious Emmy Awards as well as PRISM Awards. He is known for his blue-piercing eyes, which have become the trademark of his character and has helped him in portraying tough characters with a sense of humor. The actor was featured on People's list of Sexiest Men Alive in 2006.
